Does anyone have any info on the Blue Bay Village resort in Papagayo Bay on
the Nicoya peninsular? It looks very nice in the brochure, but it seems a
little isolated. Does anyone have any info on private or public
transportation available at this hotel? There will probably be tours
offered from the hotel, but I am looking to rent a vehicle to explore the
local area on my own. Even a moped is not out of the question.

It is a little isolated. You will have to take a taxi from the resort if
you want to see anything other than the resort. They do have a tour office
if you want to go on some of the daytrips (which are rather pricey). If you
have paid megabucks per day to stay at the resort, you will probably be
reluctant to spend your money on food and entertainment somewhere other than
the resort. Consider staying around the Tabacon Hot Springs area (one of
their tours) or Mount Arenal, instead of spending all that time on a bus
going to and from
Blue Bay. Most of Blue Bay's activities center around the pool. Water
volleyball. Water aerobics. Water polo. You get my drift. Also, the
Pacific Northwest area is more Texas-y, (where I happen to live) than
rainforest-y. Although I adore Costa Rica, the Nicoya area is my least
favorite because it is too much like what I left behind. Jane
