This is an interesting thread talking about the adult vs children activities at Blue Bay. This is an older, and interesting resort, and you have to see if it fits what you are looking for!

Pay special attention to the trimaran run to Isla Mujeres, highly recommended (but shooort).

I am going to be staying at the Blue Bay Village in Cancun sometime in
February. In the travel guide it says adult only, so I was wondering what
kind of environment to expect. Also wondering how the Hotel is:
food,beach, ect....

Thanks for your responses.

We went there for our honeymoon this past October.

The clientele appeared to fit into two general groups: college kids in
groups of 4 and 6, and couples. The activity staff did a lot to keep
guests involved, however as honeymooners we really weren't too interested
in games like the one where they had the woman lie down next to the pool
with a unpeeled banana on her stomach, and the randomly chosen man had to
lie on top of her and smoosh the banana without using his hands, then
lick up all of the banana....

Yes it is "adults only" as far as the beach was mostly topless (at one
point one of the college girls was nearly naked and having suntan oil
"applied" all over her body by 3 men...), and the hotel TV offers the
Playboy channel. We were hoping for no annoying kids at the pool and
beach, but forgot that *kids* come in all ages ;/

We spent a day at the Blue Bay Marina, but found it stuffier. It was
newer and prettier, and the food was better, though. But it was overrun
by crabs (it was crab migration season). It was nice, however, to be able
to utilize the facilities at both places.

We took the boat over there and the bus back--the bus took us through
Cancun City and that was our first trip away from the hotel. After that
we took the city buses quite a bit down through the hotel zone--they were
always running and were pretty cheap.

The drinks were great at the Village. Nothing watered down at all! The
beach was small, but since it is located on the north side, there are no
waves and the water is not very clear. The beach is also patrolled so
you don't have a bunch of vendors coming up to you trying to sell you
anything.

We took Blue Bay's charter to Isla Mujeres... it was a great trip (too
short!) and well worth the money ($30/person). If you take it, say *hi*
to Eddie for us.. he was an awesome trip director.

The activity staff was impressive. They led water aerobics in the pool
at 9, they were go go go all day with volleyball, etc... did a different
show every night at dinner, and then took the guests out to a different
bar every night at about midnight till 3-5 am. I certainly could not
have kept up!

But, as honeymooners, we spent more time in our room. The maid service
was okay, and I wasn't too impressed with the rooms at first (it IS an
older hotel) but it kinda grows on you. After 7 nights, it was hard to
leave!

It was my first trip to Cancun, and I consider the Blue Bay Village a
great value for the price. If we go again, I think we might try one of
the Palace resorts (Sun Palace, Moon Palace, Beach Palace, etc). They
too have the all-inclusive concept and share it between the resorts, so
you have 3-4 different ones to choose from. I have heard they were a bit
higher in quality (and of course price) and I like the idea that they
were further into the hotel zone. Blue Bay Village felt pretty alienated
way up north, and Blue Bay Marina was literally in the middle of nowhere.
