Review of
Blue Bay Village,
Manzanillo
This is a review of "my"
experience at Blue Bay Village
Manzanillo from Dec17-Dec24
1999.
I flew with my wife/sister and
her friend from Toronto to
Puerto Vallarta and then on to
Manzanillo. This made for a
very long day and it was 4PM
when we got to our room.
First I must say we love to
travel and have been to Costa
Rica and Cancun and loved it.
...But...this hotel is just too
over rated. They said it was a 4
star resort, but it is more like
a 3 star.
The food lines were very long
which made for standing for
almost 20 min for Breakfast ,
Lunch and Dinner. Not to
mention they only had one bar
open at a time. This made for
long lines just to get a beer and
pop.
(I hate lineups!)
The property is very pretty
but that did not hide the smell
around the hotel of raw sewage.
The toilet over flowed 3 times
on us and I found out later that
everyone had to flush 2-times
to make the plumbing work
right.
Because of the remote location
of the hotel, they had a monopoly
on the cabs going to town. A
return trip to Barra De
Navidad is $40USD . We are
Canadian, so that's $80 bucks
for us. You can't rent a car
from the hotel so your forced to
use their cabs. They should
offer one free shuttle a day to town
for there guest's but don't.
The best thing at Blue Bay is
"the Beach" hands down. If you
just want to sit on the beach all
day and not venture off to the
mountains around you, then
you'll love Blue Bay. The
dolphins swam into the bay on
the last day we were there. This
made my trip, and I soon forgot
about the cold swimming pool, very
cool nights,(bring warm
clothes) and the long lines to
get a cerveza. If you want to beat the long
beer lines...then walk to the end of the beach
to the "PARIS". You can buy 2 rounds(8
cerveza) of beers for about 45-50 pesos.
Great little place a night if you got your own
party!
This region is very beautiful with lots of
history and
I would go back in a heartbeat. But "never" to
this hotel again.
But if you already booked Blue Bay... then...
on a positive note...Find a guy named Oscar,
who runs the watersports...he is a
very friendly guy and helpful too. By far the
best staff member Blue Bay has. For a 100
pesos, he will run you up the river by boat
to the sleepy beach huts of Tenecatitta. Be
sure to ask the hotel to pack you a lunch.
Walk up the hill from the main beach
and you will find a quite snug. A
little gem of a beach hidden away from life on
the pacific gold coast.
Sshh!...Don't tell anyone back at
Blue Bay. :}

Watch out for the Gators in the Lagoon!
